WHY HASTINGS CBD?

We believe in creating a city that is full of surprises. Central to our philosophy is the idea that innovative cities should be a journey, unfolding through unexpected moments and spaces. In our projects you will see plenty of light filled spaces and clean lines, blending the charm of yesteryear with today’s working and living needs. This vision also drives our approach to laneways, where we focus on enhancing connectivity, accessibility and parking solutions to the CBD through mid-block routes. These are not just pathways, but opportunities to add public space, increase density, and make more effective use of shop frontages. All of our work seeks to open up Hastings City to locals and visitors alike, delighting in equal measure with form and function. 

We are mindful of the changing landscape of retail and how the Hastings CBD is evolving. With the rise of online shopping and big-box retailers, the role of traditional stores is changing. This calls for the CBD to make a shift from predominantly retail space to a balance of office, retail and living spaces, which come with a need for service offerings and vibrant hospitality that caters to today’s lifestyle requirements. 

In regions like Hastings, where population density may not match that of larger cities, this balance can be a challenge. An important part of our Mission is to show by doing that this change is not only possible, but to be celebrated. Once people believe in a place and its potential, anything is possible.
